Russian President Putin Preparing Visit to Egypt

(EIRNS)—Russian President Vladimir Putin will soon be making an official visit to Egypt. Mikhail Bogdanov, Putin’s special envoy for the Middle East and deputy foreign minister, is now in Egypt to coordinate with Egyptian officials on the timing of his visit according to a report in Ahram Online.

On the sidelines of the Cairo conference on reconstructing Gaza yesterday, Bogdanov told MENA state news agency that Egypt and Russia are in talks to coordinate the first visit of the Russian President to Egypt. Bogdanov also said that he has discussed with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, fighting terrorist groups like the Islamic State and related regional developments.

In another development with respect to Egypt’s relations with BRICS is that South African Foreign Minister Ms. Maite Nkoana-Mashabane is in Egypt where she held talks with Foreign Minister Shoukry to discuss the ways to develop the bilateral relations between two countries in all fields, in addition to the African continent and Middle East region situations. She was in Egypt to attend the "Reconstructing Gaza" Palestine donors’ conference on Oct. 12. Ms. Nkoana-Mashabane praised Egypt’s leading role in Africa and Arab world, stressing that Middle East regional peace and stability won’t be achieved without the pioneering role of Egypt.
