EIRNS— On the eve of the opening of the China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning, China, in the southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Zone, officials from China and Kazakhstan held a regional cooperation forum. Kazakhstan is taking part in the four-day expo which begins on Tuesday, marking the first time a country along the Silk Road Economic Belt has been invited to join the activities of the annual trade fair.

Guangxi is the permanent host to the annual Expo and is a nodal point for a handful of cross-border projects between China and ASEAN, such as the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park, China-Vietnam cross-border economic cooperation zone, and China Thailand Comprehensive Industrial Development Zone. Kazakhstan is key to China Europe freight traffic and will be able to access the ASEAN market via Nanning, which is located along the China-Singapore connectivity channel. Kazakhstan’s pavilion at the expo will promote its specialties in agriculture, culture, tourism, education, among other areas and provide services for trade negotiations.
